Principal’s Message

Talofa lava Rise UP whanau,

Term four is zooming by quickly and we give thanks for a term of celebrating our students and whanau achievements this year.
Thank you to those who were able to attend the The Rise UP Trust Annual General meeting in October where we celebrated the 2019 year of great milestones. It was definitely a year to celebrate!

This term we welcomed a new Learning Assistant to our team Whaea Tuaine who is supporting the junior school this term.
Our children have been busy with their new Inquiry topics and it has been absolutely delightful watching their Inquiring minds grow and flourish. I would like to commend the following students for their persuasive writing. Eden Pasene, Neil Yeng-Tung and Rettamae Martin. (see their letters enclosed)
Our board and staff are firming up the plans for 2021 and we will schedule the whanau fono’s early in term one so you are well informed with the direction of the school next year.

As we head into the last leg of the year I want to thank you for continuing to support your children and the school for what has turned out to be a turbulent year. Let’s continue to pray for God’s wisdom, grace and protection over all our staff and whanau.

Fa’afetai lava,
Sita Selupe MNZM
Principal

Rise UP Academy and Kings College Collab

Woah! My class finally arrived at King’s college. I was speechless, the buildings were HUGE, the count of people were too much. It was spectacular. The uniforms were exquisite and the smell was delightful. Our helpers were nice too. They gave us a tour throughout the school, their art room was fascinating, the tech room was enormous and their chapel was ‘HOLY MOLY’. Our tour helpers’ names were: Monty, Tobi, Ed, William, Rosey and Mila.

We then made our way to the business room, where they made their own products to sell. They all spoke about what product they made and what were some of the challenges throughout their planning. Everyone introduced themselves to each other including us Rise UP students and Ms Sifaheone.

After the introductions we were going to make pizza. I made a cheesy mushroom pizza with nice warm salami and nice hot bbq sauce. It was gratifying. We then went to their field to play soccer. The field was gargantuan. It then came to an end with kings and Cyrus thanking them on our behalf. That day was the funnest and immaculate day I’ve had.

Whanau Notices

SUMMER & SCHOOL UNIFORM

HATS are now compulsory in Term 4 as it’s a great way to protect your child’s hair, eyes and skin from the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays. No hat means no playing on the field so please ensure your child brings a hat to school.
Now that we are in Term 4 we are back in shorts or skorts however your child may still wear long PLAIN BLACK pants/tracks if they would like to. Plain black shorts may be purchased from Kmart, The warehouse or Postie Plus from $5-14

WATER BOTTLES

Water bottles are a MUST! Although we have the water fountains at school we also encourage our children to bring water bottles to school because this prevents them having to leave the classroom when they are thirsty but can have a water bottle inside the classroom.

Computers In Homes

Thank you, Kevin Pasene for setting up our families with the Computers in Homes programme. All our participating parents have now been set up with chrome books to be doing the online zoom sessions which start this week Wednesday 11th November.

SICK CHILDREN/ATTENDANCE

If your child is unwell please keep them at home. If your child has these symptoms for COVID-19 it is important that they get seen by a Doctor:
• New/worsening cough
• Fever (at least 38)
• Shortness of breath
• Sore throat
• Sneezing and runny nose
• Temporary loss of smell
If your child is away for 1 or 2 consecutive days we just need to be advised via phone call/text or email however if they are away 3 consecutive days they must
provide a medical certificate. If they have been tested for COVID-19 please keep
them at home until they have received their test results back—negative.

Good to Go Volunteer Arm

A huge thank you to The Cause Collective who donated some ice cream to our school. The kids were feeling extra spoilt as we have no big freezer to put leftovers in so we ‘HAD TO’ have 2-3 each.

AFTER SCHOOL CARE

A gentle reminder that the pick up times Mon-Wed is 4.30pm. The latest to pick up your child is 4.45pm, from this time you will be given a warning “1 WARNING” and the next time you are late your child will be removed from the After School Programme and will need to be picked up at 3pm. If you are going to be late or have any questions please contact Grace on 02108855876. Thank you.
