Principal’s Message
Fakaalofa lahi atu,
Term four is a celebration of our learning journey navigating our 2025 theme on ‘Wonderfully made’. We look forward to sharing our final Inquiry presentations with you all at our TECHSPO day on Friday 14th November. This month we celebrated and honored our late Founding chairperson, Sally Ikinofo MNZM, with a moving tribute performance during Niue language week at the Mangere Beats festival. Fakaaue lahi to Ms Grace Leuluai and her team, who led our students and represented RUA with pride, excellence and double honor. We also welcomed Mark Faga to our BLC team as part of the new Whanau Ora Navigator service. He brings experience from over 20 years in the police force and a passion for youth programmes particularly basketball-watch this space. Sadly, we farewell John ‘Ofanoa as he takes up full time ministry from the 14th of November. We bless Mr ‘Ofanoa in his endeavors and wish him well. Mrs. Bauhenia Ah Loe will take over Room One for the remainder of the year. In 2026, Mrs Rhonadean Godinet will be the Year Seven and Eight teacher.
Term 3 attendance saw 47% of students at school at least 90% of the time. We must improve this and ensure our tamariki are at school regularly and on time by 8.45am everyday. The impact of low attendance and lateness affects learning progress. Please support us in ensuring tamariki are at school on time everyday as much as possible. The government are putting in stricter measures in the near future for chronic absence so lets stay ahead of the game and stay in close contact with us if you need further assistance.
Fakaaue lahi,
Sita Selupe MNZM

Māngere Beats 2024 – A Huge Celebration of Faith, Culture & Whānau!
Fakaalofa lahi atu Whānau!
What an incredible journey we have been on these past nine weeks. We want to give a HUGE shout-out to all our amazing whānau for your unwavering support — allowing your children to stay back for practices and stepping up in powerful ways for our big day. From setting up marquees at 6am, providing tables and chairs, helping our tamariki get ready, and supervising throughout the event — your phenomenal whanau engagement truly shone through. Praise the Lord for such a blessed community!
A heartfelt Fakaaue lahi mahaki to our outstanding tutors — The Talagi Whānau:
Wesley & Pine, and their talented children Ordayne, Tiare-May, Matutua, and Bronze — for their patience, perseverance, and the way they led our tamariki with love, skill, and cultural pride. To Ms Taufelila — thank you for working hard with our warriors to perfect pronunciation and ignite the warrior spirit within them.
To Whaea Sarah — your beautiful leadership with Rooms 4 & 5 brought our hymn Kua Ofania to life. And to all our teachers and support staff, especially Whaea Celia & Ms Mary-Ellen, the incredible logistics duo — thank you for holding every detail together and ensuring everything ran smoothly.
The day was truly beautiful, and our children stood out proudly in their vibrant orange uniforms — they were the talk of the town! Their confidence, joy, and unity on stage reflected the heart of Rise UP Academy and the legacy of the late Madame Chair Sally Ikinofo, whom we honoured through our Niuean performance.
Fakaaue lahi whānau — together we rise, together we shine!
NZ Nationwide Earthquake Drill
Teaching our students what to do in an emergency enables them to feel safe and prepared when a disaster strikes. Once again this year we took part in the nationwide earthquake drill on Thursday 16th October. Once the handbell rang all our students knew to Drop, Cover and Hold. We had students and staff under desks, under tables, in doorways and even outside in open spaces. Once the all clear was given classes resumed and many conversations throughout the day were about who was the fastest to get under their table. Well done Rise UP Academy on another successful earthquake drill.
